Through its ‘Tools For America’s Job Seekers Challenge’, the US Department of Labor is doing its bit to help job seekers and workforce development professionals to identify and use online job search and career advancement tools. Its aim is to get feedback from jobseekers on over 500 job search and career sites with a view to making the best available to the public through the national network of One Stop Career Centers and promoting them on www.CareerOneStop.org, www.Workforce3One.org and www.DOLETA.gov.
The first phase of the initiative, which took place between November 30th and December 18th, involved inviting companies with job-related online tools to submit information about their sites.
Between January 4th and January 15th, those in search of employment can take part in phase 2 by browsing hundreds of job search and career sites free of charge, commenting on them and registering their favourites, as well as applying for vacant positions. Anyone interested in taking part and exploring what’s on offer can visit http://www.dolchallenge.ideascale.com/.
In the third phase of the project, which begins on January 18th, the Department of Labor and the Employment and Training Administration will publish and publicize the top sites in each category to provide a valuable career information resource for job seekers.
If you’re looking to start your New Year by brushing up your job search skills and possibly landing yourself a new job into the bargain, then why not drop into the site and take a look at the huge range of online resources available?
